This is a perfect sauce to use your new batch of Pesto in.
Ingredients
1/4 cup fresh pesto (or basil chopped)
1/2 cup of sweet onion (diced)
3 cooked Italian sausages (cut diagonally)
1 small can (540 ml) Aylmer- petite cut tomatoes with spicy red pepper
1 clove of garlic (if not using pesto)
pinch of salt and pepper
1/2 package of your favourite pasta cooked “al dente”
Directions
In a large skillet or sauce pan, put about a teaspoon of oil – heat – add your cut sausage and onions. Saute until onions are glossy…if using garlic, add now. Saute a few minutes more. Add the can of tomatoes and turn heat to medium. Let simmer 5 – 10 minutes, turning to low. Add your pesto or fresh basil at this point. Let simmer 2 – 3 minutes.
Add your pasta and completely cover with the sauce. Ready to serve!
